Musicus Fest 2014 Breguet’s Celebration of Excellence Concert Series Once Again Thrills and Delights Hong Kong Audiences

Musicus Fest 2014 once again presented Breguet’s Celebration of Excellence two spectacular concerts to Hong Kong City Hall Concert Hall and Theatre on November 27 and 29 respectively. The Opening Concert on November 27 saw Musicus Society artistic director and internationally acclaimed cellist Trey Lee team up with Russian viola master Yuri Bashmet and his Grammy Award-winning Moscow Soloists Ensemble for program of scintillating music from Tchaikovsky, Tan Dun, Paganini, and others. November 29 witnessed the Chamber Music Gala, featuring some of the world’s top artists from Hong Kong and overseas, such as acclaimed chamber musician Vladimir Mendelssohn (the descendant of legendary composer Felix Mendelssohn), the sensational violinist Dong-Suk Kang and Ning Feng, international prize winning pianists Colleen Lee and Rachel Cheung collaborating on works by Beethoven, Dvorak, and Shostakovich. Audiences were unanimous in their ecstatic ovation for both concerts, as the musicians were bought back to the stage by the public’s applause.

The concerts were attended by many of Hong Kong’s most illustrious figures, including the Honorary Patron of Musicus Society Mr Tung Chee-hwa, Chairman Mrs Janice Choi and President Chui-Inn Lee, Russian Consulate General Vladimir A. Kalinin, international acclaimed fashion designer Vivienne Tam, Mr Mrs Alice King and Ms Daphne King Yao, award winning director Kenneth Bi and producer Rosa Li, and Russian actress Ms Myla Bikmullina Kaye.
