Above the old Tai Po market stands a declared monument since 1907. Now known as the Law Ting Pong Scout Centre, this former District Office North was the first administrative center after Britain's lease of the New Territories, has long overlooked a community shaped by harvest and trade. This November, within its historic red-brick walls, the rhythm of the seasons and Echoes of the Harvest find new expressions through music.

Under the artistic direction of Trey Lee, and co-led by Fedor Rudin, former concert master of the Vienna Philharmonic, the ensemble brings together six of Hong Kong's finest young string players. Together, they perform a program rooted in earth and tradition: Tchaikovsky's The Seasons, tracing the agricultural cycle; Dvořák's "American" String Quintet, rustic and warm from an Iowa farming settlement; and Bartók's Romanian Folk Dances, field-recorded and pulsing with raw resilience. Each piece celebrates the same heartbeat, the source of life that sustains us all.

In collaboration with Gift from Land, a display of local rice honors Tai Po's agricultural legacy. Come experience music, history, and land in one resonant afternoon, where the past meets the present.
