Musicus Artistic Director and cellist Trey Lee leads emerging homegrown musicians in enlightening chamber concerts. Cradle of Courage, which coincides with the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II, invites audiences to the venerable halls of Matilda International Hospital on Mount Kellett, an architectural landmark of healing and hope established in 1907, one of the earliest hospitals established in Hong Kong.

The program features evocative works by Purcell, Prokofiev and Bach, as odes to the resilience, resistance and reconstruction that characterized the turbulent years. The string quartet includes three talented awardees of Musicus's Young Artist Audition, notably violist Hoi Yan-lok, winner of the 2025 competition, who plays with technical finesse and a wealth of experience as a chamber musician.

Completing this unique heritage experience will be a guided tour of Matilda. What’s more, a complementary exhibition curated by D-Day Hong Kong focuses on the war period, and charts in parallel the stories of Matilda and the unsung Chinese heroes of the decisive Normandy landings.
