In the summer of 2025, Musicus recommended seven young artists, including alumni from the Ensemble Training program, to attend the 55th Kuhmo Chamber Music Festival and Music Courses in Finland. The students took private lessons from experienced teachers to refine their performance skills and build confidence. They also had ample opportunities to perform for the public and their peers, as well as attend daily concerts, workshops and master classes. Throughout the courses, our young musicians celebrated musical collaboration by meeting and befriending fellow musicians.

Participants found the Kuhmo Music Courses “profoundly inspiring”, “enlightening”, and “positive and fulfilling”. With its focus on high-standard chamber music, the program continues to prepare young musicians for professional careers by elevating their skills and artistry.

Special mention goes to Musicus Young Artist Audition 2024 finalist and pianist Jason Chan, who received the Oleg Kagan Memorial Fund scholarship. The scholarship is awarded annually by the Kuhmo Chamber Music Association to particularly talented students of the Kuhmo Music Courses.

Participants: Jason Chan (piano), Chan Wan-wing (cello), Emily Hung (cello), Anson Kwong (cello), Li Hiu-ching (violin), George Ng (viola) and Yeung Pok-yin (viola)

The participation of the young musicians at the Kuhmo Festival is supported by Bank of China (Hong Kong) and The Tung Foundation.
