Transcending Boundaries

From 18th century chamber music in the former Central Magistracy to Edith Piaf’s La Vie En Rose performed in the open space at the former Victoria Prison, this concert series in Tai Kwun certainly takes audiences on a unique musical journey around this important heritage complex.

Joining Artistic Director and cellist Trey Lee in this series are Van Cliburn International Piano Competition prizewinner Rachel Cheung, International Frederic Chopin Piano Competition prizewinner Colleen Lee, prizewinners of the Musicus Young Artist Audition, as well as talented musicians of Western and Chinese music.

This concert series also presents world premières of two new works by young Hong Kong composers Chow Tsz-hin and Jason Liu, whose works were inspired by Tai Kwun’s history.

Although our ability to travel is limited in this moment, our minds and souls can let this music take us around the world as we transcend boundaries together.
