Musicus Young Artists Represent Hong Kong in Performances and Cultural Exchange in Canada

Each year, Musicus supports and nominates rising star musicians from Hong Kong to participate in overseas performance opportunities. In August 2024, the annual BIGLAKE Festival hosted our Artistic Director Trey Lee and Musicus Soloists Hong Kong members Matthew Chin, Fan Hiu-sing and Wong Pui-ying in the scenic Prince Edward County in Ontario, Canada.

In a series of inspiring concerts spread across local boutique hotels, restored colonial homes and barns, the young violinists explored new and familiar repertoires and collaborated with fellow musicians, which are essential for the growth of their early professional careers. Performing in beautiful venues and buildings was an eye-opening exposure to an impressive level of music-making with performers of diverse backgrounds, playing styles and interpretations. Apart from candlelight and fundraising concerts, a highlight for Musicus young artists was performing Beethoven’s Sonatas for Violin and Piano Nos. 1 through 4 as part of a Beethoven Marathon program. Trey Lee also participated in numerous concerts, notably with pianist Louis Lortie in an all-Chopin program.

The overseas performances of the Musicus artists are supported by Bank of China (Hong Kong) and The Tung Foundation.
