Musicus Heritage Community Concert Series

A Habsburg Convocation

The Convocation – calling of assembly – of academics, students and alumni has taken place for many years at the University. This idea of coming together sets the perfect tone for our Musicus Heritage Concert this summer. Held at the Convocation Room in the Main Building, a declared monument on the HKU campus, the program assembles three of the greatest composers from nations that once formed the heart of the Habsburg Empire: Austria’s Mozart, Czech Republic’s Dvořák, and Hungary’s Bartok.

“Sonic Plaque”, the Musicus newly-commissioned work inspired by this heritage building by Chen Yeung-ping, adds additional flavors to this unique convocation!

Composer Chen Yeung-ping briefly shares his inspiration and creative process in pre-concert talks (conducted in Cantonese) at 6pm and 8pm.

Musicus Society is financially supported by the Springboard Grant under the Arts Capacity Development Funding Scheme of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.
