Promoting Music through Cross-cultural Collaboration

Ensemble Training student
Ensemble Training offers a one-of-a-kind musical experience which enables students to learn from world-class orchestral musicians and to perform side-by-side with their mentors in concert. Students will receive intensive coaching on Mendelssohn’s String Symphony No. 13 in C minor, from Artistic Director Trey Lee, Musicus Fest musicians and the celebrated Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra. Admitted students will participate in the following:
  • Sectional training and full orchestra rehearsals coached by members of Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra
  • Performance with the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra in the Finale Concert of Musicus Fest 2019 at Hong Kong City Hall
  • Master Class with distinguished artists
  • Opportunity to take part in musical training and performance in Germany in 2020#
# A few selected participants will be invited by the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra to take part in the overseas training. Details and fees to be announced later.

How to apply Ensemble Training

Hong Kong residents and full-time students (no age limit)

STEP 1  
Students are required to upload a 5 to 10-minute excerpt of a sonata/concerto (with or without piano accompaniment) from the standard Baroque/Classical/Romantic repertoire; OR a solo work by Bach

How to apply Master Class(for admitted Ensemble Training participants of violin, viola and cello only)

On the Ensemble Training application form, indicate your interest in performing in the Master Class
Upload another 5 to 10-minute excerpt of a standard concerto of your own choice and include the link in your online application form (This can be a different movement from the same concerto of the above audition clip, if applicable)
