Yeung Ching-ho is a year 2 student in music at the University of Hong Kong, and has been learning zheng since 2004. She started her zheng training under Miss Chin King, and is currently under the guidance of Dr. Xu Lingzi of The Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts. She passed the Diploma examinations in both the Central Conservatory of Music and the Shanghai Conservatory of Music with distinction. She was recently chosen to be one of the RTHK Radio 4 Young Music Makers 2017. She also achieved great results at the Hong Kong Schools Music Festival – she was the champion of Intermediate, Senior and Advanced levels of Zheng solo competitions and first runners-up in Junior and RTHK Radio 4 Chinese Instruments Scholarship classes. She was awarded first place in the 6th Hong Kong Students Open Music Competition secondary school scholarship class and silver medal in The First International Zheng Contest’s B amateurish group.
Besides performing as a soloist, Yeung has been a member of a number of Chinese orchestras since 2006, namely Children’s Chinese Orchestra, Island Youth Chinese Orchestra, Hong Kong Youth Chinese Orchestra and Chinese Orchestra of HKUSU, of which she is the Chairperson in Session 2016-2017.
