Victoria Vargas


A native of Venezuela, Ms Vargas began her training at the School of Ballet Nacional of Cuba and Venezuela.  She worked with the Venezuelan National Ballet Company, the San Francisco Opera House, Dallas Opera House, the Lyric Opera House of Chicago and the Luna Negra Dance Theater, which she founded.

Apart from appearing on stage, Ms Vargas has proved herself a prominent ballet teacher. She is a former faculty at the Joffrey Ballet of Chicago. She is also an Artistic Associate for Elements Contemporary Ballet. Ms Vargas earned a nomination by the City of Chicago as one of the most prominent Latinas in the expansion of educational programs for dancers.

Ms Vargas has also taught in St. Petersburg (Russia), Amsterdam (Holland), Madrid and Seville (Spain), Ballet De Panama (Panama) Ballet De Jalisco Guadalajara and Academy of Arts Ciudad de Mexico (Mexico), Hong Kong and Portugal.  During 2014 she taught in the summer program with Dance Master Class (Italy, Spain, Portugal) under the leadership of Angela D’ Melo, former principal of the Royal Ballet. Her students are among the finalists of the Youth America Grand Prix International Ballet Competition and the New York finals of the Valentina Kozlova International Ballet Competition.
