A native of Venezuela, Vargas began her training at the School of Ballet Nacional of Cuba and Venezuela. Among the companies she has performed at in the U.S. include The San Francisco Opera House, Dallas Opera House, the Lyric Opera House of Chicago and the Luna Negra Dance Theater, which she founded.
Ms Vargas is also recognized as a prominent ballet teacher. She is a former faculty at the Joffrey Ballet of Chicago. She has also earned a nomination by the City of Chicago as one of the most prominent Latinas in the expansion of educational programs for dancers.
Vargas has taught in St. Petersburg (Russia), Amsterdam (Holland), Madrid and Seville (Spain), Ballet De Panama (Panama) Ballet De Jalisco Guadalajara and Academy of Arts Ciudad de Mexico (Mexico), Hong Kong and Portugal. As a teacher, she has witnessed one of her most prominent students in Chicago make it to the top at the Youth Grand Prix International Ballet Competition.
Victoria Vargas was the subject of a photographic art exhibition, which documents her life and trajectory. The “Victoria” exhibition was the work of Venezuelan award winning artist, designer and photographer Alberto March.
