The Chinese Music Virtuosi was founded by six Chinese instrumentalists, Loo Sze Wang (Sheng), Chu Siu Wai (Dizi/Xiao), Wong Chi Chung (Huqin), Pan Ya Sze (Yangqin), Chiu Tan Ching (Zheng) and Lam Tsan Tong (Pipa). The ensemble aims to promote Chinese instrumental music and also popularize Chinese instruments by expanding into the field of contemporary music.
Since its establishment, Chinese Music Virtuosi has presented numerous concerts, workshops both local and overseas to critical acclaim for its diverse repertoire and remarkable techniques. Its recent performances include the collaboration with Fulcrum point New Music Project in Chicago (2009) and a performance in Artistree series organized by The Hong Kong Sinfonietta (2011)
During the 2011/2012 season, the Chinese Music Virtuosi has been appointed as The Ensemble-in-Residence by the The Chinese University of Hong Kong.
