In our next webinar under the topic of “Studying Music Overseas”, we are thrilled to welcome Ms Sarah Wedl-Wilson, President of the Hanns Eisler School of Music Berlin.

Founded in 1950 as the “Deutsche Hochschule für Musik”, the Hanns Eisler School is considered one of the top conservatories in the world. Faculty members include Tabea Zimmermann, Kolja Blacher, Antje Weithaas and Julia Varady, while students work with such leading artists as Midori, Daniel Barenboim, Zubin Mehta, Kent Nagano, Seiji Ozawa, Sir Simon Rattle, Christian Thielemann, among others, in masterclasses and workshops.

Ms Wedl-Wilson became the President of the Hanns Eisler School in 2019. Born in London into a family of musicians, Wedl-Wilson played the violin before devoting herself to cultural management. She was managing director of the Camerata Salzburg and is currently the chair of the supervisory board of the Salzburg Easter Festival. From 2014-18, she was vice rector for external relations and interim president, at the Mozarteum Salzburg.

For those interested in learning about music studies in Germany, where most education is free, don’t miss these live chats (in English) on Zoom!
